Clubs and Casts

How important is it for various Club owners to get along?

How has Club owners and being on a cast effected your booking ability ?

Would you rather be on a cast and not book out or book out and not on a cast?

You should not have to make a choice. We do not get paid enough as an entertainer to not work else where. The only thing you should have to do is show up for your bookings and not cancel one for another. Which if you are a true prffesstional that should already be the case. Clubs threatening performers is so stupid and disrespectful to ALL entertainers. If I worked at a bar that told me I could not go anywhere else I would leave that bar. The problem with the gay community is the gay community itself, we do not need any help discriminating ourselves because we do it to ourselves. I can honestly say that I am now for the first time in my life ashamed to be gay.

One thing I've noticed working as the Lighting Tech at the Cabaret and booking my own shows throughout the year, I think it is better to book out, and not accept a cast position. It's great to get on a cast, but you are restricted to club owners preferences of drag, whereas booked as a special guest, you can do your thing without any restrictions, you were booked for being different, so be different and be your own draggish self. Don't give the crowd the same thing they see every weekend from the regular cast.
